Children's Classes
The weekly sessions run during the school term time. They always start with a drink, some fruit and a biscuit after a busy day at school. The sessions are carefully planned to involve a teaching element, lots of opportunities for practical work and time to review their work.
The children have fun and try new techniques while having the freedom of choice as well as learning from other artists and developing their skills.
Each child has a sketchbook to record and develop their ideas. Photographs and comment sheets are added weekly to follow their creativity. This becomes very personal to each child as they move through the different sections of the Arts Award.
In 2014 I decided to complete the Arts Award advisor training in order to offer the children the chance to gain either the 'Discover' or 'Explore' Arts Award qualification.
The Arts Award offers a unique qualification, it supports the children to grow as artists, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through setting personal challenges in an art form of their choice. To enhance the children's understanding of the arts, we regularly visit exhibitions and the theatre at Lakeside and our local library.
Through the Arts award, the children develop creative and leadership skills, and achieve a national qualification.
